Finally an update to the website. Apologies for slacking off, but severe nausea from this pregnancy has kept me from doing lots of things.
Anyway...Skye's birthday party was a big success! We had lots of friends with quite a few children over to the house for a brunch party. Despite the fact that Skye had a runny nose the night before (her first cold!) she seemed to be in really good spirits for the party and really enjoyed it. She got LOTS of great presents (both for Christmas and her birthday). In fact, we may have to start spacing out the gift giving next year so she doesn't get spoiled rotten (yeah, fat chance!)...Grandma Lois was here for the birthday party and spent a few weeks with us. Unfortunately everyone (except for me) got some nasty flu bug and kind of overshadowed her "vacation" - if you can call it that. Anyway, we managed to enjoy Christmas and New Year's and Scott's birthday (one and the same).

Yes it's been a few months since we had to update, and so much has happened. She's trying to walk and is standing up against furniture all over the house, she's graduated out of the kitchen sink and into the bath. She's still saying all sorts of random words, and we think that 'nana' is what she says when she wants here mummy. She's visited Boston and New York and played in the surf at Long Beach.

Skye has learned to roll over (and back again) and is working hard on crawling. Though she doesn't quite have the hands and legs coordinated yet, she does actually travel and we have to keep a close eye on her to make sure she hasn't travelled too far from where we left her. Time to get our act together and make sure we're semi-childproofed around here! She sticks just about everything in her mouth and especially enjoys sucking on her toes and holding her feet. She is sleeping in the crib in her own room and just comes in to sleep with us in the early morning (and nurse).

Skye is growing fast. At her last doctor's appt. on Feb. 15, she had gained over 4 lbs. and grew 2 1/4 inches, proving once again that breast milk is the best milk! She got her first set of immunizations. What an ordeal. Consistent with her personality right from the start, she let her opinions about this unpleasant procedure be known and cried for a good 10-15 minutes. Her next doctor's appt. is in April. She is awake a lot more now during the day, and sleeping longer at night, often sleeping through the night. She loves to look at her hands and appreciates all the cool things she can do with her hands, like sucking on her fingers and thumb or even, grabbing other people's hands and sticking them in her mouth. What a neat trick! Her legs are very strong and she like to impress mummy and daddy by showing off standing on their laps or on the floor while they hold her upper body. She can also support her upper body when she's on her belly for a few minutes without crying. We've got an old jolly jumper from the sixties and Skye's been in it a few times with mom & dad very close by, and she seems to like it (though not really jumping around yet). Dad put her in the jolly jumper, turned up the music, and had her grooving. Check out the new pics!

Skye went to the doctor for her 1 month check-up and she had gained 2 lbs 7 oz and grew almost an inch! If she is put on her tummy, she can lift her head and chest up (cobra pose in yoga). She also is trying hard to crawl. I heard her giggle for the first time yesterday and she is making more sounds - little puppy crying sounds, cooing, squeeking, and sighing.

These are pictures we took while at the hospital, minus the gory details - yes we did have one person who wanted to see the placenta....
